Extensions define the necessary information for an endpoint, such as a hard phone, soft phone, or other devices, to connect to the SIP server. The extension serves as the SIP username, and the password is the secret used for authentication. The domain name system (DNS) locates the server to register with and determines the realm, which specifies the domain the endpoint is registering to. #
- Navigation: To begin, navigate to the Accounts menu and select Extensions
- Adding Extensions: Click the plus (+) icon to create a new extension. You can create a single extension or a range of them (e.g., starting at extension 100 and creating 10 at once)
- Initial Setup: You can pre-fill caller ID names and numbers if you want them to be the same across a batch, or leave them blank to configure individually later

Configuring Extension Details #
- Passwords: Each extension has an automatically generated password for provisioning. You can view it by hovering over the password field or generate a new one by deleting the current entry and saving
- Voicemail & Users: You can assign a specific user to an extension and set a password for the voicemail system
- Device Provisioning: The interface allows you to add device details, such as the MAC address and phone model (e.g., Yealink), to facilitate automatic setup

Caller ID Settings #
- Effective Caller ID: Used for internal calls and specific routing
- Outbound Caller ID: This is the name and number displayed when calling external parties
- Emergency Caller ID: Specifically for emergency services, often requiring the company name and a verified number
- Directory: You can set the full name that will appear in the system directory
