Porting Rejections?

Updated on January 8, 2026

Understanding Porting Rejections #

Porting rejections occur when the information submitted in the port request does not match what the losing (previous) carrier has on file. Even small discrepancies, such as a missing middle initial, outdated address, or old billing name, can cause a rejection.

Important: The single most common cause of rejections is an information mismatch between the Local Service Request (LSR) you submit and the Customer Service Record (CSR) held by the losing carrier.

Why Port Requests Get Rejected #

The most frequent reasons for a rejection include:

  • Customer name mismatch — Legal name or business name differs from the CSR.
  • Incorrect service address — The submitted address does not match the losing carrier’s records.
  • Wrong account number — The number from an invoice may be different from the service account.
  • Missing or incorrect PIN/passcode — Required for most mobile/VoIP carriers.
  • Unauthorized requestor — Only the account owner or authorized contact can approve ports.
  • Pending carrier orders — Any open order (add/change/disconnect) prevents porting.

CSR & LSR Requirements #

To avoid rejections, your Local Service Request (LSR) must match the losing carrier’s Customer Service Record (CSR) exactly. The CSR is the most accurate source of customer information—it shows the official account name, service address, authorized contact, and account number.

The best practice:

  • Request the CSR from the losing carrier before submitting the port.
  • Ensure the LSR matches the CSR line-for-line.
  • Update any outdated customer information before reattempting the port.
Tip: Some carriers do not provide CSR documents automatically. The customer may need to call and specifically request it.

How to Resolve a Port Rejection #

  1. Review the rejection notes sent by PeerOne.
  2. Compare your submitted details with the CSR from the losing carrier.
  3. Correct the discrepancies (name, address, PIN, account number, etc.).
  4. Resubmit the port request through PeerOne Support.

Troubleshooting #

Issue Suggested Fix
Information mismatch Ensure your LSR matches the CSR exactly—name, address, and account number.
Incorrect or missing PIN Request your port-out PIN from the losing carrier and update the submission.
Number inactive Restore service or reactivate the number before retrying the port.
Pending orders Ask the losing carrier to clear any pending changes before continuing.
